ELECTRICIANS LICENSE FREMANTLE & MELVILLE

IS YOUR ELECTRICIAN LICENSED?

In Western Australia, anybody who does electrical work must hold either an electrical work license or an electrical contractor license. Every electrical contractor must also display their EC number on both their invoices and advertisements, as required by legislation. You can check if your electrician has a valid and current license at www.commerce.wa.gov.au .

All electrical work is covered by legislation setting out both requirements and technical standards on how it needs to be done. You should also get a safety certificate with every job an electrician completes for you within 28 days from the start of your job. This certificate must contain:

  • The electrician’s details
  • Information on the electrical installation or equipment
  • A statement saying the electrical installation or equipment is electrically safe
